FAQ
How To Use
Sometimes there are differences on websites in the hotel rooms provided to customers based on the language settings you use.
This site mainly uses one of the largest Japanese Online Travel Agencies, Rakuten Travel, to find rooms for Tokyo.
You will find that some of the links lead to the Japanese site, BUT this will enable you to find more potential rooms at a cheaper price!
Is Rakuten Travel Legit?
Yes! Rakuten Travel is one of the largest Online Travel Agencies and has millions of users every year. Many Japanese people use this site for their business travel and leisure travel. (Even I use it frequently!) Learn more about Rakuten
Guide for Booking with the Japanese Site:
Important Note:
While we may provide guidance on how to reserve using the Japanese site, please note that we can NOT be held responsible for supporting with any issues, cancellation fees, communications with the hotels. This site simply guides you how to book a room on the Japanese site.
Step 1 - Navigate to the Japanese Site
Use the Hotels page to find a hotel in an area you would like to stay.
Then click the “Book Now” button and this will lead you to Rakuten Travel’s site.
Step 2 - Input your Requirements
After getting into the hotels’ page, you will notice this bar on the left hand side of the page. Follow the notes here and fill in your information!
This will show you the available rooms for the hotel for your dates.
Step 3 - Find a room
At this point I recommend turning on translation for the site to help out with the details about the room. Rakuten Travel encourages hotels to give a lot of information about the rooms and plans available.
The most important part for you is if rooms are available or not.
Please note that some of the rooms for hostels might only be available for Men/Women.
If the hotel you are interested has this button available, it means you can reserve it!
Step 4 - Reserving a Room
Click the bottom button (see image). Generally you probably don’t want to register to be a user, you can simply reserve a room using your email address.
On the next screen input your email address and click the button next to the input field.
You’ll receive an email from Rakuten Travel to the email you input.
Open the email and click the link to continue your reservation!
Step 5 - Final Steps
Insert all of the required information (yellow boxes).
Name: Last Name, First Name
Gender: Male or Female
Enter your Address:
Zip Code, Select 海外 (abroad) last in the list
Then input your address (including country)
Your telephone number (please note that if the hotel can’t reach you they might cancel)
Finally choose the Check in time.
This last part doesn’t matter so much, you can confirm the total price.
In this example 16,000 yen.
By default you will need to pay at the hotel, please note that there is a cancellation fee for no shows or cancelling up to a week before your booking. Please be considerate when booking and cancel as soon as possible if required.
Make sure you have cash just in case they can’t handle credit cards.
If everything looks good to you, click the final reserve button and an email will be sent to you.
